Simple clear advice in plain English

Change Autorun in Windows

Stop your PC performing the same task every time similar devices are plugged in

Change autorun
Use the dropdown menu for each disk or media type

The Autorun menu that appears in Windows has an option to force Windows to perform the same action every time a similar device or disc is discovered by Windows.

If you have selected this option but then change your mind about how you want Windows to behave, the choice can be changed in Control Panel. This can also be useful if you install new software and want to use that instead.

Click the Start button, type autoplay and press Enter. There is a dropdown menu for every different kind of disc or media type. You may even find entries for mobile phones and iPads at the bottom of the list.

Click on a menu and select a different option. Click the Save button to confirm the changes. There is a button labelled ‘Reset all defaults’ at the bottom of the screen if you want to reverse all the changes you have made.
