Cheap video cameras from Ebay aren't built to be attached to crash helmets
Q I purchased two keyring-style spy cameras from Ebay, which have a USB connection and a slot for SD memory cards. I bought the devices for taping to crash helmets to record video footage of short motorcycle journeys. However, both devices failed within six weeks and neither of them even respond to the built-in reset buttons any longer. Do you have an idea of what’s wrong?

A Not really, but when you buy a miniature video camera for around £6 (in fact, we found Hong Kong-based vendors selling these items on Ebay for just £1, including postage), you really can’t expect much.
Factor in your pursuit – buzzing along on top of a motorcyclist’s helmet – and we’d imagine that the twists, turns and bumps in the road conspired with poor build quality to lead to these early breakdowns.
The best advice we can offer is to contact the vendor and complain asking for a refund or replacement but don’t expect the replacement to last any longer.
