Create Task Panes in Libre Office

Put irritating floating windows in place on your Desktop

Many useful tools in Libre Office appear as floating windows on the Desktop, such as the Gallery and Style selector. If you find this distracting, it is possible to lock in them in place much like the Task Pane in Office 2003.

First make the tools visible. Press F11 to display the Style selector. The Gallery option can be found in the Tools menu. Click and drag the title of the Style or Gallery Window to the edge of the Libre Office window. When the cursor gets to the edge a grey border will appear where the window will be attached

This can be any side of the window. Release the mouse button. To return to a floating window, click and drag the title of the tool again. It is possible to dock more than one tool on the same edge and then adjust how much space each has by dragging the line between the two.
