Right-click on an empty part of Metro and left-click on All Apps. Scroll to the right and then left-click once on Control Panel.

Once the Control Panel has loaded it should look familiar from Windows 7. Click on System and Security and then on Windows Update.

It confirms here that it is going to install automatically but that there are 8 available. To see what they are click on the text '8 important updates are available'. Click on Install to update Windows straight away.

In this case it asks for a restart. If you don't it will restart automatically in two days.

To restart yourself, press the Windows key to return to Metro. Click on your name and then Sign out. Drag the login screen up to reveal the power button. You will see a mesaseg telling us that there are updates to install. Click on the power button and then on Update and restart to complete the update.
