Windows 8 guide: How to install and play Solitaire

The Microsoft Solitaire Collection on Windows 8 has five different games as well as a daily challlenge

Solitaire is a classic Windows game but it is not installed with Windows 8. Don't worry as this game is easy to install through the Store tile.

Click on the Store tile on the Start Screen. Press Windows and C to show the Charms, click on search and type solitaire. Press Enter to see all the results in the Store. Look for Microsoft Solitaire Collection and click on it.

As with other apps, more information will be displayed, including any permissions that the app requires. If you're happy with this, click on Install.

The Store app will download and install the Solitaire Collection app. Look to the top right hand corner of the screen to see the progress.

Once it has finished press the Windows key to return to the Start Screen.

In fact, we pressed the Windows key before it had finished so you can see here that the tells you that the installation is in progress.

A notification will appear in the top right of the screen to tell you when it is done.

You can now click on the Solitaire tile.

It willl ask for permission to connect to the Xbox Live service click on Yes.

The Solitaire Collection comes with five different Solitaire games. Click on one of these tiles to start a game or scroll to the right for more options.

You can change the theme of the game and see awards for completing challenges in the game.

Your statistics are shown and finally there are instructions on how to play on the right.
