Documents saved to Skydrive can be edited on a separate PC

The Skydrive online storage space that comes with all Windows Live accounts can be handy if you need to share documents or edit them away from your PC.

If you have a folder on the computer that is synchronised with Skydrive then those documents are already available online. If you don’t want to create a folder for this or install the Skydrive software, there is an option to save to Skydrive in Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Click on the File button and select Save & Send. Click on Save to Web. Click on the Sign in button and enter your Windows Live details if prompted. Select a location for the document and click on the Save As button.

The ‘Save as’ dialogue box will appear. Don't worry too much about the contents of the address bar as this will look rather complicated due to fact that you are saving online. Adjust the name and file format if you want and click on the Save button.
To edit the file online go to www.skydrive.com and sign in with your Windows Live account.

Navigate through the folders and click on the document. A preview will be displayed. There is a button to edit the document in Word or you can do basic editing it in the browser window.
