Lexmark P707

A compact printer from Lexmark.

The first noticeable thing about the P707 is its compact design. In a sleek, silver-and-grey finish, this small printer will hardly take up any room on your desk. Both its paper feeder and output tray fold away for easy storage and underline the printer's slim build.

Print quality is also slick, with fairly crisp, black text and colour prints up to 4800 x 1200 resolution. On normal setting, it produced four pages of black text in a minute and took three minutes and 12 seconds to churn out for an A4-sized colour photo, which is good. The photo print was vibrant in colour, although it did have a very slight green tone to it.

The P707 uses a two-cartridge system - one five-colour cartridge and one black cartridge. Unusually, the black cartridge can be replaced with a 'photo' cartridge for printing top quality prints. It's worth noting that the printer comes with colour and photo cartridges but no black, so you will have to purchase this separately at £24. The most impressive feature of the P707 is its memory card reader for six card types, which is great for digital camera users and a bonus at this price.
