HP PhotoSmart 7260

This inkjet printer could be just what you need to make copies of those embarrassing new year's party pictures.

At first glance you may wonder how the HP 7260 works, as there are no paper feeders to be seen. However, after opening the printer lid to load the cartridges, you'll notice that both the input and output paper trays fold away inside the printer. This compact design is well engineered and enables tidy storage.

The HP 7260 works with two cartridges, one black and one colour, but for optimum photo prints you can replace the black cartridge with a photo cartridge, which is also supplied.

In our tests, black text documents printed at 4.7 pages per minute with crisp results. Top quality A4 colour prints took around three and a half minutes on normal paper, but a lot longer on photo paper. The results on photo paper were vibrant in colour and, although using the photo cartridge made a slight difference in quality, the colour cartridge alone still produced excellent prints.

There are USB ports on the front and back and a compartment on top stores a 6x4in photo tray that can be fed directly into the paper feeder. The most impressive feature, though, is an ability to read six types of memory card and print directly from them.
