Acer n10

A pocket sized pocket PC!

The Acer n10 is a good example of a Pocket PC that is genuinely pocket sized. Equipped with a 3.5in colour screen and 64Mb of memory, this is a capable handheld.

To keep costs down, there is no cradle supplied with the n10, but it comes with a power adapter and a USB cable for connecting to a computer. Apart from this, the only other connection feature is infrared for communicating with other devices.

There are slots for both Compact Flash and SD memory cards and Outlook 2000 is supplied to synchronise with your PC's contacts, diary and to-do list.

The Windows key (used to bring up the handheld's application list) is positioned just below a scroll wheel, so it's easy to select and open different programs without having to use the stylus.

One word of caution, though, there is a switch on the bottom of the n10 to stop it from charging when the power adapter is plugged in. Be sure this is in the off position. While discharging the battery occasionally is a good thing - it will improve battery life - this could lead to data loss as there is no flash memory on-board for backups.
