Label your home-made CDs and DVDs with a professional touch.
We have been able to create our own CDs for a while now but aside from scribbling on them with a felt-tip pen, our only way of identifying them has been to use sticky inkjet labels.
These aren't ideal - they're tricky to apply and can often peel off after a while. Some drives and players will even react badly to the extra weight that they lend your discs.
TDK's CD/DVD label printer aims to change all of that by offering users a simple method of printing directly to your disc's surface. At £100, this is one of the cheapest ways of doing this.
The unit looks like an external CD-Rom drive, is simple to set up and produces some professional-looking results when printing plain text.
It's not without its flaws, however. You'll have to use CDs and DVDs with blank surfaces, for example, and even then, you can only print to specific areas in one colour at a time.
Ink cartridges, which cost around £8, are only available in black, red, blue or silver and each one will only last for 40 prints.
