Join Lou, Daffyd and Vicky Pollard in this virtual ramble around Little Britain
If you saw the cheap TV ads for this game, your expectations might be low, so let’s settle the score upfront; it’s rubbish.
Based on the sketch show that gave us dozens of new playground stereotypes to be teased about, clearly, the question on the game developer’s mind was ‘how much mileage can we get out of Matt and David nipping in the studio for two hours to record some hilarious voice samples?’ Sadly, it struggles to top 60 minutes.
For a start, Little Britain: The Video Game is a shoddy PC conversion of a mediocre PlayStation 2 game. Then it makes the cardinal sin of forcing you to unlock each of the eight poor mini-games, based around sketches from the show.
The first has Vicky Pollard completing a roller skating course to collect CDs, replete with catchphrases. She can do tricks while airborne but the keyboard control is so fiddly it’s hard to care.
Other games include
Lou
diving at the swimming pool (pounding on the keys to make him run) and
Daffyd
Thomas mincing around on a bike, but with no mouse control and horrible
music.
It comes as no surprise, then, that we'd advise Little Britain fans to steer
clear of this and buy the DVD instead.
