Laplink PDAsync3

Synchronise in seconds with this program for handheld computers

One of the big benefits of using a handheld computer, smartphone or other portable device is that you can keep all your important data with you at all times.

Owners of such devices will have probably already installed the synchronisation software that came with it on their PC and, for most users, this will be all that's needed to share information between the two machines and keep them both up-to-date. So why would anyone ever consider a third-party application like Laplink's PDAsync?

Unless you have a compatibility issue with the personal information management software on your PC or the synch software that came with your portable device, then you probably won't need PDAsync at all.

If, for example, you use Outlook on your PC and are experiencing problems transferring your contacts or calendar to your handheld, then PDAsync may do the trick. The program supports a large number of applications, including past and present versions of Outlook, Lotus Notes, Lotus Organiser and ACT, while it also works with a range of portable systems, including Pocket PC, Palm and certain Sony Ericsson mobile phones.

The other reason for using PDAsync is if, for some reason, you use a number of different portable devices and want to synch them all using the same program. You might find that PDAsync also makes a handful of extra options available to you compared to your existing software, such as the ability to schedule synch sessions.

Our tests suggested that PDAsync was slightly faster at performing synch tasks than the Microsoft ActiveSync program supplied with our PDA, but such a small speed increase would certainly not warrant the asking price.
