Simple clear advice in plain English

Cherry Strait

Make your PC look (a bit) more like a Mac

image-of-the-cherry-strait-keyboard

Cherry’s Strait keyboard is apparently inspired by Apple’s current keyboard design.

The metallic-painted body and shallow keys are very similar, and the white keytops and USB cable are clearly designed to appeal to Mac fans.

It will work with Windows PCs too (as will the Apple keyboard), and in fact it has the specialist Windows keys rather than Apple ones so it’s more suited to Windows than Mac.

It’s nice and heavy, and the keys are well spaced but very shallow. We found it uncomfortable for long periods of typing, though if you’re lighter-fingered this may not be a problem. It’s well-made, though it’s not quite as polished, especially when put side-by-side with an Apple keyboard.

This is a decent keyboard but it’s not comfortable enough for dedicated typists and not as stylish as the Apple model.

The main problem is the price – Apple’s wired keyboard is only £39 (the wireless version is £56) so for £9 more you get the real deal. Unless you’re desparate to use a keyboard that looks like this there are better choices around, not least from Cherry’s own line-up.
