Simple clear advice in plain English

Waitec Caddy 238

A digital camera from Waitec

Digital cameras are in abundance these days, as our review pages bear testament to. The Waitec Caddy 238 is a two-megapixel model, which means it can support resolutions up to 1600 x 1200. Four white balance settings can be set, depending on the environment you're shooting in, and a flash can be activated when in low-light levels.

Apart from its compact build and value for money, the best thing about the Caddy 238 is its straightforward navigation system and bright 1.5in colour screen. A cursor panel on the rear of the Caddy is used to navigate through the various menus to configure the camera. It's all very simple.

There is no optical zoom but a 4x digital zoom is present. The macro mode, used for close-up photography, is selected using the switch at the side of the camera, where the USB and video-out ports are also located.

For £113, the Caddy 238 is cheap and cheerful. There's 16Mb of memory built in, with an SD card slot for adding more megabytes if required. Basic image-editing software completes the package.
