Ideal for notebook users
Not everyone likes using the trackpad on a notebook PC to control the cursor, and those who need to compute somewhere other than home rarely have room to use a full-size mouse.
The Saitek Notebook Optical Mouse is much smaller than an ordinary mouse so it is easier to pack away in notebook cases. We would liked to have seen a way to tidy the cable away, though, especially as wireless mice can be bought for less than this.
While the small size is good for portability, it does make it uncomfortable to use for long periods, but the scroll wheel is smooth with just enough resistance to stop accidental movements.
Our test model was lime green with a white light under the scroll wheel. If this colour scheme is not to your liking there are 11 other colours to choose from.
The Saitek Notebook Optical Mouse may only be needed occasionally but it does its job well and is reasonable value.
Our verdict
We wouldn't recommend this for everyday use but it is good for mobile use
