A set of standard speakers that don't opt out on style.
Just because you opt for a set of standard speakers and not a fancy surround sound system, it doesn't mean you have to settle for something boring. The Logitech Z3 speakers are a case in point. The subwoofer is encased in wood and the two satellite speakers have aluminium faces, which make for a good-looking unit. The satellites also have trendy metal stands and removable speaker panels that slot in and out easily.
Setting them up is straightforward. The satellites connect to the subwoofer and there's enough speaker wire to position them anywhere on the desk. The subwoofer's bass level is set manually by a dial on the back of the unit. A wired remote control connects the subwoofer to the PC and provides a volume dial. This is a nice feature to have as it gives instant access to sound levels, rather than having to use software. The remote control also houses a headphone socket.
As far as sound quality goes, the Z3 performs well. If you're a big bass fan, this might not be the system for you as, rumble-wise, this is more subtle than others. That said the Z3 is a nice piece of kit at a fair price.
