Simple clear advice in plain English

Ximeta NetDisk

A well-priced external hard disk

There are plenty of external storage devices that allow you to add extra hard disk space to your PC by plugging them into a USB port.

The NetDisk is an attractively priced 80Gb example. As well as USB, it also has a network port built in, which means it can connect to a home network. Once that's done, the NetDisk acts as a communal hard disk that can be shared by any computer connected to your home network.

Of course, it's already possible to share files between PCs using the built-in networking options in Windows, but that's no use if your hard disk is already full of MP3 files or video clips. The advantage of NetDisk is that it provides additional storage that can be accessed independently.

Our only real criticism is that the installation process is a bit confusing thanks to an unhelpful manual that gives very little attention to the supplied software.
