Record, edit and save your home movies to CD or DVD.
If you want rid of the boxes of videotapes collecting dust in your attic but want to hold on to the memories, video-editing software is a great solution. Movies on CD and DVD 2 aims to create perfect home movies in three simple steps - record, edit and save to a CD or DVD.
In practice, we found it a bit trickier than this and if you are new to video editing it's easy to get lost with this application.
The first step is to collect the video clips you want to edit. There's a choice of recording directly from a video camera or importing existing clips. Movies supports all of the popular video file types, although we had lots of trouble getting it to work with AVI files.
The editing effects are fun to use, either to cut out unwanted scenes or to change the look completely. The software doesn't make it easy to find all of its features though, so novice video editors will struggle.
Finally, you can record the finished product on a CD or DVD. It's a well-priced product but its complexity may not appeal.
