MSI Mega View 566

Have all your digital media files in the palm of your hand

The MegaView is a personal media player with a good balance between screen size and comfort. A mini joystick with two buttons on the right-hand side allows one-handed control, although left-handers might not appreciate the layout.

There is 20Gb of storage space for video, audio and digital photographs. The screen is a little grainy and dark at times but it handles fast motion quite well.

Windows XP detects the unit as an external hard disk, so copying files is easy but you can't synchronise with Windows Media Player. The sound via the integrated speaker is adequate but you'll need to hook up your own headphones to get full enjoyment.

It can play slideshows of pictures with music; simply copy the music tracks you want into a special folder.

The battery will last for three and a half hours while playing video or eight hours when listening to music. A second battery is also included in the box.

The MegaView can be connected to a television, for which a remote control is supplied. The AV lead can also be used to record audio and video, and there's a microphone for voice recordings.

An SD memory card slot at the top can be used to copy photo, audio or video from or to the MegaView, and can be used as extra storage space if the hard disk is full.
