A good value multifunction device boasting excellent print quality.
There really is something of a clamour on at present among printer manufacturers to get a multifunction device among their product line-ups.
Lexmark is doing better than most with its budget X75 and X85 models really making an impression in the sales charts, and its new model aims are even higher.
The X5150 is targeted at more discerning buyers. It costs £170, which is good value for a multifunction device. After setting it up using the easy-to-use drivers and plugging in the USB cable, we were ready to go.
The 4800 x 1200dpi printing is of good rather than outstanding quality, as the impressive photos were let down by the text printing.
We had to spend a long time tinkering with the settings to see the text printing at anything like its best. The x5150 does excel at fast printing.
We had an A4 photo in our hands inside three minutes which, as anybody who has waited 10 minutes or more in the past will know, is impressive. We also achieved around seven pages of text a minute, which is pretty good.
The 600 x 2400dpi scanner did a reasonable job and helps make the X5150 a multifunction device worthy of consideration.
