Record and watch music and video on the move
The DMTech DM-AV10 promises quite a lot, whether it's to keep you amused while travelling or sharing photos and movies with friends and family. It will play most video formats, MP3 and WMA music files, and display JPEG image files.
However, its special trick is to be able to record video or audio directly into MPEG or MP3 formats. It comes with cables to connect it to a TV or stereo, so you can start recording straight out of the box.
Operating the DM-AV10 is easy enough via the straightforward menus, and there are enough buttons to avoid confusion. The screen could be of better quality, though.
The DM-AV10 can transfer and play videos already on your computer but there are a few issues. First, you have to download several large files to do so, which could take time for dial-up internet users. Then, the software isn't that easy to use having been rather badly translated into English. Finally, the quality of the converted files isn't very good.
For the price, we were expecting a hard disk-based player with loads of storage space. However, the 128Mb of internal memory is disappointing. You can expand the memory with SD memory cards, but this will quickly bump up the price.

Our verdict
A good idea but the software, screen quality and paltry memory stop it from scoring higher
Best price on the web
A technology for downloading files. Allows even very large files to be downloaded quickly.
