Griffin iTrip with App Support

Listen to your iPod or iPhone in the car

The Griffin iTrip FM Transmitter with App Support follows the company’s earlier iTrip products in that it can broadcast your music from any iPod or iPhone so you can listen to it on the car radio (or, in fact, a radio in the home).

It’s easy to use. Just plug the tiny unit into the dock connector onto the bottom of the iPod. It’s controlled using the three buttons on the bottom to scan for a free station and set other options.

It will automatically pick one that does not have a station broadcasting on it (to avoid interference) but you can also choose one yourself.

Sound quality was fair. It did not match a directly connected iPod, for example using the Griffin Tuneflex, but but still quite impressive.

If you have an iPhone or iPod Touch you can download the free Griffin app which will allow you to control the iTrip from the player’s screen. It is powered by the iPod, so there will be a drain on the battery, and as with all similar devices there is no way to use a non-Apple player.

That said, though, this is the simplest way yet we have found to listen to your iPod or iPhone on a car radio.
