Review: MSI StarCam CliP webcam

Although webcams have been around for some time, it's only now that they are beginning to make sense thanks to the easy availability of products such as Skype for video calling.

The StarCam CliP has a small stand section that can attach, in theory, to the top of a monitor. In practice, all the screens we tried were too thick, so we resorted to placing the camera on a desk, where it sat perfectly happily.

Installation was painless, although having installed the software, we then had to manually install the webcam into Windows. That's only a two-click process, but it would have been nice if it was automated.

The camera has its own software, but it also integrates perfectly with Windows, meaning images can be viewed from My Computer or any compatible application. It also works fine with Skype.

Image quality is excellent, and there's a built-in microphone, although this came out a bit quiet.

For £15, however, this webcam is a bargain.
