Fujifilm Digital Q1

A basic good looking camera.

While the top end of the digital camera market gets perennially bogged down in issues of megapixels and optical zooms, more entry-level equipment gets forgotten. The Fujifilm Digital Q1 is one such camera which makes no claim to be the best camera on the shelves. Its big selling point, like many of its cousins higher up the Fuji range, is its sharp looks.

The Q1 offers 2-megapixels for £100. There is no optical zoom, which is normally reason enough for a camera to get a kicking in these review pages and it is entirely constructed of plastic rather than a hard-wearing metal overcoat.

For the price though, the small, lightweight construction and distinctive looks are noteworthy. Picture quality is good for a budget camera and the inclusion of a macro mode means it can be used for close-ups.

The Q1 has 8Mb of internal memory, which is enough for about ten images at the highest quality setting, but more can be added by way of the xD memory card slot. As a fun snapper for holidays, nights out, or maybe as a first camera for the kids, it has plenty going for it. Serious photo fans should keep shopping.
