Aladdin Internet Cleanup 4

Internet Cleanup 4 is aimed at those who have become worried about their confidentiality when surfing the internet. The program performs various functions, including the removal of spyware.

This portion of the software works well, providing options for thorough scanning (which searches through every file on your PC), or a quicker, but less meticulous, scan to detect the most common forms of spyware.

Internet Cleanup 4 also includes a pop-up blocker to prevent unwanted web pages appearing without your consent. We tested the program with several types of pop-up ads, and mostly it performed well.

There were some types of advert the program was unable to block, though, such as windows that ask you to set your home page to a particular website.

To its credit, Internet Cleanup 4 gives you the ability to remove cookies, but this can be done within Windows itself.

On the whole, this program does a decent job of protecting you against internet threats, but there are a number of free alternatives that are just as good.
