Imation FlashGo! 2

A memory card reader from imation.

If you're mad about gadgets you might find that you're beginning to get in a bit of a muddle with your memory cards. Your digital camera uses a Smart Media card, while your MP3 player uses Compact Flash and your handheld computer has a removable SD card. Helpfully, the FlashGo! 2 can handle all of these formats along with Sony Memory Stick, MultiMedia card and IBM Microdrive.

The card reader is about the size of half a deck of cards and larger than the previous FlashGo! However, there have also been some improvements. At £30 it's a lot cheaper, for a start.

It also features four separate slots on the front, rather than requiring the use of adapters, as was the case with the earlier model. Each slot sets itself up as a separate drive letter in Windows so you can plug in several varieties of memory card at once, should you so wish.

The main improvement is that the FlashGo! 2 supports fast USB 2, which makes transferring files to and from memory cards a lot less time-consuming.

It's also a breeze to install, works with both PCs and Macs and doesn't require an independent power supply.
