Not long ago we looked at a housing that allowed users to carry their Fujifilm cameras underwater. It was expensive and bulky, though, and while cheaper waterproof cases are available, a simpler answer is to buy a fully waterproof camera such as the Z33WP.

It’s covered to a depth of 3m, which isn’t much by diving standards, but it’ll be fine for most holidaymakers, and it comes in a variety of colours. The battery compartment, which also houses the SD memory card (not supplied), is locked down so water can’t get in. The USB connector is also under that locked flap, and it’s a smaller connector than the usual mini-USB, which means that replacing the supplied cable will be expensive if you lose it.

It’s nice and small, and there aren’t many buttons to worry about. Picture quality wasn’t up to much, though. Although the 10-megapixel pictures were fine when taken in good light, indoors they were speckled with noise and poorly coloured.

Movie shooting was more impressive, however, and although the recommended price is high, for the £130 that we found it for online the Z33WP is a better deal.
