Review: Kensington Pilotboard Laser Wireless Desktop Set

This Kensington Pilotboard Laser Wireless desktop set sits squarely in the middle of the market - it's better built than the cheap low-end keyboards and mice, but doesn't have the extra features of the higher-end devices such as the Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Desktop 7000.

The keyboard is large but has an excellent key action and a good wrist rest. The mouse uses an ergonomic design (so it's only really of use to right-handers) which makes it comfortable in the hand.

The sides of the mouse are done out in a kind of rubber grille, which is odd at first, but it's easy to get used to. While both keyboard and mouse are generally well-built, some of the stuck-on rubber pads were coming away from the plastic on both keyboard and mouse, making it feel slightly cheaper than it is.

Like most keyboards, this one includes customisable keys, which are set using the software (if you don't want to customise the keys or the mouse buttons, it's not necessary to install the supplied software). Despite the slight flaws, this is a good wireless desktop set that is comfortable to use.
