Review: Orlogix Automagic CD-R media management

A simple way for beginners to burn pictures, music and more onto CDs

image-orlogix-automagic-cd-r-review

Burning CDs can be a daunting process for some, which is where Orlogix Automagic CD-R comes in. It takes the user, step-by-step, through the process of burning a CD, whether it's an audio CD to play tunes in the car, a photo CD to show off those holiday pictures, or a data CD for backing up important documents.

What's more, it does all this without the need to install software. You just insert the disc and it launches its own built-in program.

The downside is that the user is limited to whatever the built-in software allows, which is fine for beginners, but as users become more advanced, they tend to outgrow things like this. That's partly why the kit is available as a starter pack of 15 self-recording discs for £20, or a refill pack of 50 for £35.

The program is easy to use with short, simple menus. Again, more advanced options are lost, but for beginners it's more than enough, and easy to follow.

For anyone already using a CD-burning program, this product is superfluous. However, it could be just the job for those who want to burn their own CDs, but don't know how. And, of course, there's always the option to upgrade to a full disc-creation program once the bug bites.
