A portable hard disk that can take a few knocks
The Imation Apollo UX is a small portable hard disk, based on the 2.5in hard disks normally found in notebook computers.
It encases that in a hard and rubbery plastic shell which makes the device suitable for carrying around - unlike some portable disks, it's not going to be easily bashed up if you are carrying it in a bag or pocket.
It connects to the computer using a USB connection (a cable is supplied) through which it charges as well. No set-up is required - like most similar devices you can just plug it in and Windows, Mac computers or Linux will automatically recognise it and set it up. Transfer speeds were pretty much exactly as we would expect from an external USB hard disk.
The drive comes with some backup software installed so that you can use it to secure your files. It looks good in black with a white trim and, though it's not shock-proof, it felt tough and was able to withstand slight knocks.
