This 7in picture frame may cost a lot more than most similar-sized devices, but it also looks considerably better than most of its cheaper competitors.

Its touch-sensitive controls, arranged down the right-hand side of the frame, were easy to use and the menus were well laid-out.

The 1GB memory is enough for hundreds of high-quality photos, which can also be played from USB devices or memory cards.

The screen is the frame’s best feature. It’s bright and vibrant, with excellent colour reproduction that stood out spectacularly.

Sound and video are also impressive, although the frame could not play most of the video files we tried.

The menus are in full English, not just symbols, so it’s easy to see what you are selecting, although some of the options are tucked away and require several button-presses.

The device has an internal battery and once it’s charged the frame can be unplugged and passed around like a photo album.

At its list price, the S730 is still just too expensive. However, it’s available online for a lot less, around £90, and if you can find it for that it’s a great-value device.
