AOC LM-520A

A good-looking 15in monitor at a great price.

Everybody wants a TFT monitor these days but traditionally, expense has been a problem.

Not any more. This splendid AOC LM-520A 15in flat-panel monitor is available for just £200.

For that price, you might expect the AOC to be a bit of a rotter. The usual failing of a TFT is that the display clarity can be poor or images can be patchy, with inconsistent colour.

However, the AOC LM-520A didn't suffer at all and the display was bright, crisp and even.

The on-screen display controls are some of the easiest we've seen. Often, altering your monitor settings involves pushing badly marked buttons and selecting indecipherable icons.

On this one, the auto set-up button is placed prominently opposite the power button. Turn on the screen, hit the Auto button and it is set up ready to use.

The integrated speakers are pretty poor but that is offset by its pass-through socket, so headphones can be plugged into the base of the monitor rather than the back of the PC.

We're hard-pushed to criticise this TFT, and the only thing we could come up with is the lack of a height adjustment. Even so, at £200, this is an absolute steal.
