Saitek USB Wireless Notebook Optical

A wireless mouse from Saitek.

The Saitek USB Wireless optical mouse package consists of three separate items - the mouse, the receiver that plugs into your USB port, and a USB charging cable.

The mouse itself is a standard two-button affair with a scroll wheel. It's quite heavy but glides smoothly on any hard surface. The wireless receiver that relays mouse movement to the PC is a small, ungainly silver box that resembles a USB storage key with an antenna.

The set-up is straightforward. If you're a Windows XP user, you can simply plug the receiver into your USB port and it will be recognised immediately without the need to install any drivers.

We found that it suffers slightly from 'dead spots', where mouse movement isn't registered by the receiver. However, these are few and far between and become less frequent when the mouse is kept properly charged. Plus, as there is no ball, you'll have no problem using the mouse on any surface, with the exception of glass. To recharge the internal battery, simply attach it to a USB port avia the provided cable. You can still use the mouse while it's charging, which is a bonus.
