Relisys TL565

Yet another 15in TFT monitor hits the market.

Computeractive has covered quite a lot of 15in TFT monitors recently, as the price has rapidly crashed to bank account friendly levels.

With viewable screen sizes comparable to 17in CRTs, now is a good time to ditch that huge old monitor and opt for a sleek TFT instead.

At a little over £300 we were expecting a lot from the 15in Relisys TL565, but it wasn't as good as we first hoped.

Like many other TFTs we have seen the TL565 is too bright, and adjusting the brightness and contrast controls doesn't have a lot of effect.

The result is that colours look like they have been bleached out like clothes after too many washes.

There is no DVI connection and the on-screen menu for adjusting the screen properties isn't the easiest to use, either.

We had to hit several buttons to get the screen to auto configure itself. This feature is best suited to a single button on the front of the monitor.

On the good side the screen displays a sharp picture and has a good viewing angle. There's not the standard problem where different parts of the screen look lighter or darker depending on where you are sitting.

There's also a headphone socket on the front in case you tire of the tinny built-in speakers.

At this price we can't recommend this TFT as there are cheaper, better models out there.
