Simple clear advice in plain English

Phoenix Global OooFf

An OpenOffice and Firefox bundle

This application contains two pieces of software: the office suite OpenOffice, and the web browser Mozilla Firefox. OpenOffice is a superb alternative to Microsoft Office and Firefox is a fast alternative to Internet Explorer.

They are both 'open source', which means they are completely free to distribute, although distributors are allowed to charge for their production costs.

That said, £30 is still ridiculously expensive when compared to simply downloading the programs (OpenOffice and Mozilla Firefox).

Firefox is roughly a 5Mb download, while OpenOffice is 65Mb, which would add up to a four-and-a-half-hour download on a dial-up connection. On a 1p per minute price plan, these files would cost just over £2.50, and on broadband, nothing.

You do get a printed installation guide and a second CD that includes documentation, utilities and clip art but there's simply no justification for this kind of price hike.
