Simple clear advice in plain English

CD X Rescue

Recover information from damaged CDs.

Whatever we may have been told about the sturdiness of the CD format when it was first announced, scratches and stains can quickly make a disc unreadable.

CD X Rescue will help recover information from discs that have been damaged, allowing you to then make a copy. It is very simple to use: select the disc you would like to recover and the program will analyse what can be saved. If anything can be salvaged, you can then select somewhere on your hard disk for CD X Rescue to copy the information.

It's even possible to tell the software to only recover parts of files if the damage is particularly bad. However, this is only good for text-based files like web pages where some of the text may still be useful. In practice, the program managed to recover two discs that had been severely scratched without any complaints.
