A pocket-sized digital video camera that's tailor-made for fans ofemail video clips.
The Pocket Video 750 is a digital video camera that weighs only 165g and is compact enough to slip in your pocket and take anywhere. It's comfortable to hold and the control panel is very intuitive, which makes recording video footage easy.
It captures video at a resolution of 320 x 240 with two quality settings to choose from - standard and top. If your clips are just for emailing, the standard setting should be fine. The results from our tests were clear, although it worked better in outdoor use with good light.
It's worth pointing out that the Pocket Video won't capture footage anything like a proper digital video camera. It's designed to take a small number of clips that can be stored and viewed on a PC. Using the supplied TV connection cables, we played our footage back through a television and were witness to blocky video and a slow frame rate. Playing clips on a PC allows the playback area to be resized, which in turn makes the image quality look much better.
The supplied 32Mb SD memory card will record around 15 minutes in standard mode and seven minutes in top mode. There is also 16Mb of internal backup memory in case you run out mid-flow. For longer recordings, you will need a bigger capacity card. If you don't like your clips, they can be deleted to free up space.
There's a 3.8cm colour viewfinder, which can swivel round to face the operator and can also be used for playing back recorded footage.
It uses a rechargeable battery pack but will also work with four AA batteries. It connects to a PC via USB and cables are provided for TV playback.[QQ] Paying £200 for a video camera you can't make the most of with your TV is a bit much. However, a quick browse through online shopping sites found the Pocket Video 750 selling for £150, which gives food for thought for those who just want to email the odd video clip to friends.
