Review: Genius MP3-DJ 520 music player

Get 400 songs in your pocket with this 1GB player

Listening to music on the move can be very solitary so the Genius MP3-DJ 520 has an extra headphone socket so that two people can listen at once. Even better, there is an extra set of headphones supplied as well.

The media is small and very light and is not going to weigh down any pockets. There is also a microphone built into the front.

The DJ 520 is compatible with Windows Media Player so there is no need for any extra software. It is also charged using a standard mini USB plug and one is supplied in the box. Both of these make it very easy to get started. And the FM tuner means that there is always something different to listen to.

Sadly the menu system of the 1GB DJ 520 is far from intuitive and it is not always clear how to make selection. This is made worse because the DJ 520 is quite slow to respond to the buttons.

We wouldn't recommend upgrading to this player just for the dual output as a cable for splitting the signal for two headphones can be bought for less than a fiver from supermarkets. But as a first player it is hard to beat on capacity for price.
