Master Album Maker

Show off your digital photos by making them into virtual albums

You could be forgiven for assuming that Master Album Maker is some kind of music-creation program, but this curious little application from Intrepid Mouse is, in fact, a tool for generating albums of the photo rather than the audio variety.

Its logic is pretty straightforward. Rather than sending a heavy, expensive stack of prints through the post to your loved ones, you can create a virtual photo album complete with 'turnable' pages, captions and even background music. This can then be burned to CDs that can be distributed cheaply and easily among friends and family.

As such, Master Album Maker is remarkably easy to use. Choose a style of album, drop photos into each page and, well, that's about it. But this demonstrates the program's biggest flaw: it's simply too narrow in its scope.

Aside from cropping, zooming and a handful of basic filters, there are no tools for actually editing your photos before you commit them to an album. Additionally, the program's support for creating, uploading and managing online photo albums is very limited.

Since Adobe Photoshop Album handles all of the above and throws in a powerful photo-file manager for just a few quid more, Master Album Maker just doesn't offer enough to recommend it.
