A modern radio with retro style.
The digital radio may be a 21st century invention but the Intempo PG-01 has its design roots firmly stuck in the 1950s. Styled like a futuristic wireless radio, it has a beech veneer case, brushed metal control buttons and a pale blue screen, which combine to make the PG-01 a very attractive product.
It can switch between FM and DAB signals. Tuning the PG-01 in DAB mode is simple: just turn it on and it will automatically find all available digital radio stations. The screen displays the name of the station currently playing and, depending on which digital radio station you're tuned into, may include news headlines and the current song playing. Sound quality is excellent and we were surprised at just how loud and clear speech and music were, even when turned up to full volume, which is controlled by a big dial in the centre of the device.
Unfortunately, the PG-01 is mains-powered only, which means you can't take it to the park or on the road. It has a headphone socket, though, which will please the rest of the family when you fancy a late-night rock session.

Overall:
Pricey, but a great digital radio that sounds as good as it looks.
