If complex print jobs make you mad, ClickBook could be the answer.
Printing can be a bit of a pain. It's fine if you just want to print out an A4-sized letter, but what if you want to print a longer document, such as an A5-sized booklet, printed on both sides of the paper with the pages collated so that you have to fold and staple the sheets together, or an A4 leaflet folded three times to produce a neat and tidy document?
These kinds of print jobs can be very tricky to master and often leave you with a pile of scrap paper.
Many printers come with driver software which is supposed to be capable of performing these printing tricks. In reality, they do not cope well with these more complex jobs.
That is where ClickBook comes in.ClickBook works by intercepting data sent to your printer and formatting it in the way you require. It functions with almost any Windows application from which you can print.
It works with almost any printer too. In most cases, setting it up to work with your printer is easy as well.
We tested it with several printers and while the machinery from the
big names was ready in seconds, an elderly Sharp inkjet did cause a few headaches.Using the software is easy. When you have printed to the ClickBook printer, the software opens up in a new window and you choose the print layout you want.
If your printer can't print on both sides of a sheet and you want instructions on how to reinsert pages, these can be printed too.
The software comes with a wide range of document layouts but if none suit, you can create personalised ones.
An area at the BlueSquirrel website, the only place selling ClickBook for $45 (£32), is dedicated to trading layouts with other users.
ClickBook does its job well and is a unique product. If you find that printing paperwork can have you tearing your hair out, this may be the answer.
