A memory card reader from PNY.
Memory cards are now shipped as standard with all manner of products from mobile phones to MP3 players. Rather than installing separate software for each memory card device, a dedicated card reader lets you manage them all with ease.
PNY's latest can read five types of memory card - Compact Flash, MMC, SD, Memory Stick and Smart Media - although it gets the '6' in its name because it can read IBM Microdrives, which plug into the Compact Flash slot.
It plugs into the PC via USB 2 port and Windows XP users don't even need to install a driver. Other Windows users need to use the provided CD. Once installed, Windows displays a new driver letter in My Computer for each type of memory card. There is nothing to suggest that a new card has been inserted, so finding which slot has which letter is a matter of trial and error.
At the suggested retail price, the PNY card reader is nothing special and offers no more or less than any other reader on the market.
