An affordable camera with some great features.
Digital cameras are now more affordable than ever and at under £250, the 3.2-megapixel Ricoh Caplio G3 offers particularly good value for money.
There are three resolutions to choose from, ranging from 2048 x 1536, for high-resolution images, down to 640 x 480. Resolution modes are accessed via a dedicated 'menu' button that sits next to the 1.6in LCD display at the rear of the unit. The menu, which is divided into three submenus, is very easy to navigate using a combination of four buttons and the OK button at the back of the camera.
These cursors also double up as function buttons, giving you fast access to five different flash modes, a review mode (to check the shots already stored in the camera's internal 8Mb memory) and a macro mode, which allows you to take incredibly detailed close-ups of your subject using the 3x optical zoom.
While the camera has a slot compatible with both SD and MMC memory cards, there is no memory card bundled with this camera, which may disappoint the more prolific photographer.
