USB Handset TYN-200

Voice over Internet Protocol applications allow you to make cheap telephone calls using your internet connection. Our favourite system is the excellent Skype software. But having the right hardware is just as important.

The TYN-200 is a basic USB telephone headset. Plug it into your PC, let Windows detect it and, providing you have an internet phone application installed, you're ready to go. Audio clarity is excellent, there's no echo and no additional power source to worry about.

One handset costs £25, while a double pack works out at £48. With the free Skype software, you can happily make free PC to PC calls. The only catch is that both PCs need broadband and the same internet phone software.
