A slim 19in TFT
Treating yourself to a decent monitor can make all the difference to your computing experience and the Acer AL1921 is a good choice.
Despite the huge 19in screen, the AL1921 doesn't take up much desk space. Image quality is very good, with only a slight hint of brightening around the edges. Using the DVI port offers the optimal screen quality, although a standard VGA connection is quite acceptable. We found it better than the Sampo ST9MI we reviewed recently.
The on-screen menu is quite easy to use but is let down by the position of the buttons. The power button is located in the middle of five others, and we accidentally pressed it a few times when trying to change settings. There is an automatic set-up button, though, so you only have to change the brightness and contrast to your personal preference rather than having to deal with the more complicated settings.
Cheaper 19in TFT monitors are available but they do not include a DVI connection, which is worth the extra money.
