A motion-detecting, face zooming, special-effecting webcam
The QuickCam Fusion is a 1.3-megapixel webcam. This doesn’t sound impressive when compared with digital cameras, but for moving images, particularly those transmitted over the web, 1.3 megapixels is plenty.
The last time we looked at a Logitech QuickCam, it included the ability to transform your face into that of a dinosaur that tracks your movements.
The motion-tracking on the Logitech QuickCam Fusion has been enhanced and now includes the ability to add various other fun effects, such as a crown, that track the user’s face.
The camera can also be set to automatically zoom in on people’s faces. It includes a good-quality microphone but because the webcam is not likely to be very close to the user’s mouth, it’s a good idea to use the included headset if trying to make video phone calls.
The images produced by the camera were good, and it comes with a decent low-light mode.
It’s a tiny device that comes with a good plastic stand which attaches to a monitor. The only drawback is the price: there are far cheaper webcams around, but few that can match the quality of this one.
