The Jungle Book Key Stage 1

A game based around the popular Jungle Book story that helps develop key stage 1 skills

Based on the classic Disney film, this CD-ROM sets out to combine elements of the National Curriculum for Key Stage 1 with the fun of an adventure game.

The game begins as Baloo the bear discovers tiger footprints in the jungle, which can mean only one thing - Mowgli's arch-enemy, the fiendish tiger Shere Khan, is back. With the entire man-village now in great danger, Mowgli and Baloo set off on a quest to find the one thing that all tigers fear, which is, of course, fire.

Along the way, you must help our two heroes complete a series of tasks, each of which will develop skills in maths, English or science and offers the chance to win clues that will help you reach your goal. In 'Watch out, they sting!' Baloo and Mowgli wander too close to a bees' nest.

You need to help Baloo shoo the angry bees away by correctly identifying parts of the body. In 'Swinging Words', the name of the game is to correctly piece together syllables to complete certain words.

Each game is hosted by one of five characters - Banana and Barnaby the monkeys, Mango the vulture, Jacko the parrot, and the Caracal, a lynx-like cat - who also act as guides to help you around the game.

As well as clues, you can pick up bonus fruit along the way to keep our two heroes fed. You will also collect recordings which, when combined, tell a story that will guide you to the location of the fire.

This is a delightful game which will capture children's imaginations and help them develop a range of educational skills, although some of the longer games might test the attention span of younger players.
