XFX Geforce 6800GT

Play games in full glory with this graphic marvel

The XFX Geforce 6800 GT is the latest addition to the constantly evolving graphics card market. Essentially it is a cut-down version of the MSI 6800 Ultra TD256, and is aimed at price-conscious users who want better-than-average games performance.

The Geforce 6800 GT compares favourably to the ATI Radeon X800 Pro; its most direct competitor. Its major advantage is that it can draw images more quickly. In essence, this means your PC can talk to the card faster, ultimately meaning better graphics.

The XFX Geforce 6800 GT uses the same processor as the 6800 Ultra - except in this case, it has been deliberately slowed down somewhat. This detuning lowers performance, but ensures the card doesn't have the same elevated electrical power requirements as its big brother. This means it is compatible with more PCs.

The 6800 GT has digital, analogue and TV-out ports, so it is compatible with a wide range of monitors. It also comes with a selection of games, including X2: The Threat, Commandos 3 and Moto GP2, so you can start testing its capabilities straight away. On the whole, this is an excellent graphics card that provides good performance. Ultimately, though, it's for serious gamers only.
