Small and removable storage
WD Passport is ideal for anyone that needs to share large files without resorting to a whole stack of rewritable DVDs.
It is clad in grey metal with soft plastic at each end. A protective flap covers the USB 2 and power sockets.
The drive should be able to draw enough power from your PC's USB connection but a power supply may be needed if the drive is plugged into a USB hub shared by several devices.
A power supply is not included in the box but the manual gives the power requirements so it will be easy to buy one cheaply from any high street electrical shop.
No software is needed: Windows XP detects the drive automatically. Once connected it behaves just like an ordinary hard disk.
The speed of the disk is certainly up to standard: it received a 2.27Gb file in just two minutes and five seconds and copied it back to the computer in a similar time.
A respectable amount of storage space for such a small device, but you pay a premium
A smartphone that's eye-catchingly different.
A technology for downloading files. Allows even very large files to be downloaded quickly.
