Transform your PC into a TV.
As well as being used for surfing the net, editing photos and playing games, your PC can be transformed into a TV, with the right equipment.
The Lifeview TV Walker is an external TV tuner card. Just plug your TV aerial into one end and its USB 2 cable into your PC, install the supplied software and hey presto, another TV for the house. It even comes with a remote control.
Just like a normal TV, the software has an auto-tuning feature that will locate and save TV channels. The software also allows you to record and pause live television, like a personal video recorder such as Sky+. The amount of footage you can record will depend on the size of your hard disk but it's a good feature to have.
Because there are S-Video and composite inputs you can also record video from other sources such as a DVD player or VCR. It can save captured footage in MPEG1, MPEG2 and MPEG4 formats, which can then be copied to a CD or DVD.

PC TV
I recently purchased a programme called PC Satellite TV which claims that you will receive thousands of channels of live TV. There is nothing 'live' about it. I tuned in to SABC several times and found the same two people in interview talking French! There areover 16 languages spoken in South Africa and French isn't one of them. I suspect that I have been taken for a ride, so for anyone else hoping to be able to tune in to any station anywhere.....watch out, it's not what it seems
